Conservation Steward, Rolling Ridge Conservancy

The Rolling Ridge Conservancy, located on 1600 ac. of beautiful, primarily forested land between the Appalachian Trail and the Shenandoah River in Jefferson County WV, is seeking candidates for a grant-funded Conservation Steward position.  This position will assist in the Conservancy’s land protection, stewardship, and outreach work and will serve as the on-site manager for our protected lands, working closely with the volunteer Board of Directors.  The Conservation Steward’s chief initial task is to support the update and implementation of a forest stewardship plan, including monitoring, stewardship and restoration activities to improve forest health, increase and protect biodiversity, support healthy waters and soils, and foster climate resiliency.  In addition, the Conservation Steward will conduct outreach activities and engage volunteers in stewardship activities.  Min. Qualifications: Degree in natural resource management, environmental science or engineering, forestry, planning, biology or similar science and 2 yrs related professional experience. FT Contract position; Flexible work schedule with occasional evening/weekend work both on-site and remote. Contract Term: 2 yrs, with opportunity to renew. Compensation: $45-$60,000, DOQ.
