This technical position is responsible for stormwater infrastructure technician work for the Office of Sustainability and Environmental Resources (OSER) in the Office of the County Executive.  Supervision is received from the Manager, OSER.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Meet GIS and geodatabase requirements as part of County’s permit compliance with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit and NPDES industrial discharge permits for stormwater
  • Develop and maintain GIS data layers and databases, including but not limited to:
    • Storm sewer system and drainage areas
    • Industrial and commercial pollution sources
    • Urban stormwater Best Management Practices
    • Impervious surfaces
    • Water quality monitoring locations
    • Water quality improvement projects and opportunities
  • Edit, analyze, and manipulate storm sewer system maps using ArcGIS (ESRI) geoprocessing tools and extensions
  • Research historical as-built records and related information for stormwater infrastructure mapping
  • Maintain source records in OnBase document management system
  • Perform quality control to validate data for accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with preparation of metadata, procedural instructions and other documentation
  • Compose and prepare professional correspondence
  • Provide information for requests from the Office of the County Executive, Maryland Department of the Environment, other county divisions, and the public
  • Prepare exhibits, maps and other cartographic products for presentations and reports
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, GIS staff, other county staff, and outside consultants on projects
  • Make field visits to support projects when needed
  • Perform other related duties as required
