The Environmental Programs Manager I creates and manages environmental and resilience building projects and supports the Deputy City Manager for Resilience & Sustainability in the development and administration of other city environmental/resilience/sustainability projects and programs. This position plays an important role in the preservation of the environment and building resilience to the impacts of climate change. This position manages and coordinates a variety of energy, storm water, habitat, pollution-related, and other environmental projects, along with education and outreach activities associated with City of Annapolis environmental programs. This position requires excellent communication skills and an ability to interact effectively and diplomatically with diverse people and organizations. This position may be tasked to perform research, develop presentations and events and/or public outreach materials, prepare written materials concerning environmental trends and legislation, research and prepare grant applications, and to testify before City Council and its committees and present to Boards and Commissions and non-profit and community organizations.
The primary focus of this position is meeting the challenges posed by climate change and protecting and conserving the natural environment of the City of Annapolis.

This is an entry level position and applicants will not be considered if they do not meet the minimum requirements of one year of experience (internships/fellowships may count towards job requirements) in a related field and a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the listed or related fields set forth in the job announcement.
