The Fairfax County Urban Forest Management Division is hiring a full-time limited term     position for Mid-May— Mid-August 2019.

Duties: Participate in field surveys to collect data pertaining to forest pests such as EAB, spotted lanternfly, and others. Implement forest pest treatment activities in assigned area. Use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications to record the position of forest pests and other natural resources. Answers technical questions from the public, civic and homeowners associations, and other county agencies on forest pest practices

Salary: $16.84 – 20.00 per hour (depending on experience and education)

Hours: 30—40 hours/week

Minimum Qualification: Student of good standing from an accredited two-year or 4-year college pursuing a degree in urban forestry, horticulture, environmental science, landscape design, agriculture or related field. Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and traverse challenging terrain at times. Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Note: *This position may not exceed 900 hours per calendar year. Individuals in these positions are not eligible to earn leave or receive holiday pay.
