We seek an enthusiastic teacher for ANS Nature School’s Forest Kindergarten. Join a welcoming community committed to helping children find the joy of wonder. We seek a strong candidate with experience teaching preschool and kindergarten-aged children, a love of nature, and a desire to help children learn about and connect with the environment. Our play-based, emergent curriculum requires teachers who are active and comfortable exploring the outdoors in all types of weather. Flexibility, reliability, and organization are key to the role. Qualifications
A degree in education or an education-related field
All State of Maryland requirements for a Lead Teacher
CPR/First Aid Certified (or the ability to become within 1 month of hire)
At least three years of experience working with young children
Must pass FBI and State of Maryland Background Check

Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Ability to climb stairs and to hike on uneven terrain
Comfort exploring the outdoors in all types of weather

Organized and able to multitask
Excellent communication skills

Essential Responsibilities
Create engaging and meaningful outdoor experiences for children ages 4 to 6
Collaborate with a team to further develop our school’s nature-based curriculum
Interact, guide and play with children at their physical level
Engage in positive, instructive interactions with parents
Be familiar with Creative Curriculum, Responsive Classroom, Multiple Intelligences, play–based learning, and creating emergent curriculum
Design activities that are child-initiated, and cover physical, social/emotional, linguistic, and cognitive development
Generate weekly lesson plans that focus on students’ interests
Lead informal outdoor hikes and explorations for students and families

General Schedule
This is a salaried exempt teaching position. Audubon Nature Preschool teachers work 38 hours weekly during 9-months from late August to early June.

Pay
$36,000-$38,000 for the nine-month position
