PennFuture seeks two Government Affairs interns during the Fall semester to assist PennFuture’s work involving the Commonwealth’s and federal legislative and executive branch agencies. The Government Affairs interns will: track legislation and the movement of bills through the legislative process; attend hearings and draft policy memos; research legislation and provide draft analysis and suggested positions; attend legislative meetings with Members and staff of the General Assembly, agencies, and the Governor’s office; interact with Members and staff of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation and federal agencies to help achieve PennFuture’s federal policy goals; and more. This position has a unique opportunity to aid shaping local, state, and federal policy through advocacy on issues, including: Chesapeake Bay TMDL, recreation and access, budget investments, stimulus & recovery spending, infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, climate change mitigation & adaptation, stormwater, oil & gas drilling, mining land & water reclamation, petrochemicals, watershed protection, and more.
