About the Museum: The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park (AMM) is a major community asset serving Anne Arundel County and beyond. AMM educates youth and adults about the Annapolis area’s rich maritime heritage and the ecology of the Chesapeake Bay through programs, exhibits, and community events. We accomplish this mission through an engaging suite of hands-on programming and by bringing visitors to our two campuses on Back Creek and aboard the Museum’s historic skipjack, Wilma Lee. Overview and Job Summary: AMM is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Grant Writer. The Grant Writer reports to the Vice President of Development and will have strong interpersonal, writing/communication, and organizational skills. The Grant Writer, under the direction of, and in collaboration with the Vice President of Development, will contribute to the strategy and drive implementation to renew and steward our current government, corporate, and foundation funders, and will help build the prospect pipeline. In addition, this position will be responsible for writing new grant proposals, renewal applications, grant reports and conducting grant program tracking, including managing proposal submission deadlines and deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Write compelling proposals for foundations, government, and corporate entities, as well as reports.
•Coordinate with program team colleagues to develop accurate content for grant applications andwith required grant reporting, including narrative and financial reports
•Continually research and vet new sources of funding including government, corporate, andfoundation grants.
•Maintain and manage grant tracking system, responding internal and external queries ondrafted and submitted proposals
•Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders
•Meet regularly with grants team to discuss prospect strategy, solicitations, and variouscommunications with foundations and corporations
•Record and track all activity and progress in grant database
•Any other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Development
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing or a related area OR demonstrated superior writing skills.
Grant writing experience, preferably with a secondary environmental education and historic, and museum focus.
A proven record of securing major grants
A minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing
Exceptional knowledge of proposal submission and fundraising process
Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
Strong research skills and knowledge of information sources
Experience with Blackbaud products or Grant Hub a plus
