The University of Maryalnd Center for Environmental Science is seeking an HR Coordinator to handle various functions at unit level to include but not limited to, talent aquisition, HR operations and administration in accordance with stated policies, directives, organizational objectives, or other regulatory controls. The coordinator is expected to respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits, compensation, training, compliance, etc. throughout the employee life cycle. This person will be responsible for unit level HR support for administrators and employees. This HR Coordinator will be responsible for units physically located in Solomons, College Park and Frostburg. Once fully trained, the incumbent should expect to be in the office 3-4 days per week (at an assigned unit) with 1-2 day(s) of remote work.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or related field.

Experience:

At least three (3) years professional human resources experience. SHRM certification or HRCI certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Other:

Working knowledge of HR principles and procedures.

Ability to interpret State of MD, USM and UMCES policy and procedures to assist in daily HR transactions and processes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a requirement.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills along with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are also required.
