Hood College in Frederick, MD has a wonderful opportunity for a Social Science or Food Systems/Studies Master’s degree recipient for a fulltime, permanent staff position managing the Frederick Food Security Network (FFSN). Under the direction of the Director of the Center for Coastal and Watershed Studies, the FFSN Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Network.  The FFSN is an innovative, college-community partnership with many local organizations that increases the community’s capacity to address nutrition and food security in the City of Frederick, MD. Currently, the Network is comprised of 6 community gardens and 3 greenhouses. It produces over 5000 pounds of fresh produce annually to serve over 800 families residing the Frederick’s food deserts.  Additionally, the FFSN plays a role in the Food Systems focus area of the Sustainability Major at Hood College and provides students with hands-on experiential learning. It will likely also interface with the Hood’s new Public Health and Nutrition programs in the near future.
