Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Lead Environmental Specialist in the Environmental Dredging and Restoration Group, located at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing project management and senior technical oversight for projects related to environmental science and permitting services. Occasional attendance at evening meetings and field work will be required.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology, or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus 5 years of experience in environmental science, regulations, engineering or management, two years of which must have included responsibility managing environmental projects. May require two years of supervising environmental or professional staff depending on assignment. Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. Applicants may substitute an applicable advanced education degree for up to two years of experience.

Preferred skills for this position include: knowledge of water quality and sediment sampling, fish and vegetation identification, invasive species control, wetland/forest delineations, NPDES permitting and other Federal and State regulatory requirements under Maryland law. A strong ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and proficient computer literacy using Microsoft Suite.
