Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior Surveyor in the Geospatial and Engineering Services Department located at the MES Headquarters in Millersville, MD. Primary responsibilities include: Monitors and assesses survey crew work practices for compliance with regulatory and MES standards and safety practices; Compiles and assesses survey data and other technical information and prepares reports; Prepares final deliverable survey plans; Performs engineering calculations, assessments and evaluations, including development of construction documents and materials, computation of areas and volumes, equipment and procurement specifications; Prepares and presents budgets and technical proposals to clients; Performs project management duties such as planning, scheduling and coordinating field activities at project sites; Very knowledgeable with a variety of survey equipment, and data processing/transfer and drafting software including integration with GIS.
Minimum Requirements:
Possession of a Professional Land Surveyors license approved by the Maryland Board for Professional Land Surveyors plus 9 years of survey experience, 2 years of which included direct supervisory capacity managing survey staff. A Bachelor’s degree in Survey, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, or other generally recognized field of engineering or survey from an accredited college or university may be substituted for four years of the required experience. An Associate’s degree in Survey, Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Geotechnical, or other generally recognized field of engineering or survey from an accredited college or university may be substituted for two years of the required experience. A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant field may be substituted for an additional year of required experience. Must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points.
Preferred skills include: Proficiency in the application of drone technology as well as CAD/GIS integration.
