The WVU Institute of Water Security and Science (IWSS) is seeking to fill the position of Research Specialist. This is a non-tenure track, full time (1.0fte), Faculty Equivalent (FE) position with full benefits. The incumbent will undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature, using sensitive, research-grade equipment to analyze environmental samples (e.g. water, soil, vegetation, etc.). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in and managing a water quality laboratory and will be thoroughly trained to use a variety of analytical instruments (e.g. spectrophotometer, spectrometer, laser particle diffraction) and apply a wide range of methods (e.g. gravimetric analysis of total suspended solids). The goal is to optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing reliable and important results that can be used to advance hydrologic science.
