We are currently searching for a Research Intern to assist with a citizen scientist project called Chesapeake DolphinWatch (www.umces.edu/dolphinwatch) at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (UMCES), Chesapeake Biological Laboratory (CBL) in Solomons, Maryland. This unpaid position is for approximately 20 hours per week for 3 months with the possibility of extension. Duties will include dolphin sighting data verification and analysis, managing app software, hydrophone retrievals and deployments, and interacting with citizen scientists via email and social media. Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with working with citizen scientists, marine mammals, and sound analysis is desirable. The ability to format and analyze data in Excel or the R software package and perform GIS mapping is preferable.
