James Madison University’s Facilities Management is accepting applications for a Stormwater Specialist to perform required inspections and reporting for permit and regulatory compliance across campus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as ESC/SWM inspector for regulated and unregulated construction projects and for stormwater BMP’s, MS4 outfalls, and other related assets.
  • Assist with the implementation of the University’s MS4 program.
  • Support the university’s Bee and Tree Campus programs.
  • Conducting field mapping and administrative support for sustainability programs.
  • Assist with researching, developing, and implementing maintenance programs for naturalized areas on campus.
  • Utilize GPS equipment to create/update GIS data as necessary.
  • Coordinate/Assist with education, outreach, and volunteer programs/events.
  • Collecting data from other university departments for annual reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (Required):

  • Drivers License
  • Knowledge of ESC/SWM requirements and practices
  • Knowledge of sustainability issues in the University environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software ( Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Esri ArcMap and supporting apps (Field Maps, Survey 123)

* DEQ inspection certification for ESC and SWM will be required within one year of employment*
