The Nature Conservancy in Virginia is hiring a Watershed Restoration Engineer to work on Hurricane Helene recovery projects on US Forest Service (USFS) lands in western Virginia. The position will be based out of the Alleghany Highlands Program office in Lexington, VA and funded under a long-term grant ending January 2036.
The engineer will perform project development and implementation activities including watershed analysis, stream and road-stream crossing assessment, survey, design, and preparation of construction drawings and contracts. Project work will include Aquatic Organism Passage restoration using USFS Stream Simulation Design methodology and channel and floodplain restoration through large wood augmentation, natural channel design techniques, dam removal, road realignment, and more.
