Chesapeake Research Consortium works in conjunction with the Chesapeake Bay Program located in Annapolis, Maryland to provide three-year opportunities for emerging environmental professionals in which participants experience the interaction of science, policy development, and management by focusing on critical issues such as habitat, fisheries, toxic contaminants, nutrients and sediment, growth and development, diversity and environmental justice, community engagement, climate change, monitoring, and environmental modeling within the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed.
On a typical day, CRC Chesapeake Bay Program Staffers can be engaged in wide variety of activities. Staffers complete routine administrative activities such as organizing meetings, drafting minutes and reports, populating databases, and communicating with partnership members and are often assigned in-depth, substantive projects to help facilitate a particular Bay Program objective. Throughout the course of their appointment, Staffers are encouraged to take advantage of multiple professional development activities that are designed to help each Staffer explore future career avenues and expand their professional background and skill set. These opportunities come in many forms ranging from individual conference attendance, interaction with local researchers, completing an independent project, and volunteering to participation in group trainings and field outings.
