Penn State Extension Community Forestry Management Monthly Webinar Series
Presented by Robert Adams, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and Tom Witmer, City of Philadelphia
Tuesday, November 15, 2016, 12 PM – 1 PM (Eastern Time)
Human activities in urban watersheds bring about a set of disturbances and contamination of water resources. Communities have begun to re-establish vegetation in stabilizing streambanks as they work toward broader goals of protecting water quality and managing stormwater runoff . Join us in November as Robert Adams and Tom Witmer present highlights of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s buffer establishment efforts in densely urbanized southeastern Pennsylvania counties.
Mr. Adams serves as TreeVitalize Watersheds Manager with the Society, formerly serving as director of stewardship of theWissahickon Valley Watershed Association. Mr. Witmer directs ecological restoration and maintenance of natural areas in Philadelphia’s parks for the past 17 years. Their work has included forest restoration, invasive plant management, stream restoration, wetland creation and dam removal.
