Maryland Water Monitoring Council 21st Annual Conference

    MWMC 21st ANNUAL CONFERENCE
    November 13, 2015
The Maryland Water Monitoring Council will hold its 21st Annual Conference at the Maritime Institute, North Linthicum, Maryland, on Friday, November 13, 2015. Registration will begin at 7:30 AM and the conference will adjourn at 4:30 PM. The conference will include a plenary session, six concurrent breakout sessions, lots of posters and exhibitor tables, plenty of snacks, and, of course, the famous Maritime Institute all-you-can-eat buffet lunch. You’ll also have lots of time to network and catch up with old friends and colleagues during the long breaks and the post-meeting social at Heavy Seas Brewery (details coming soon).
The theme of the 2015 conference is Protecting the Source – Sustaining Maryland’s Waters.  In the face of many emerging environmental challenges such as climate change, the spread of exotic species, and population growth, Marylanders continue to expect a dependable water supply for drinking, recreation, and agriculture. Sustaining our waters for future generations will take focus and coordination. This year’s MWMC Annual Conference addresses many issues related to sustaining and restoring our waters. Possible themed sessions include Maintaining an Adequate Water Supply, Emerging Stressors, Monitoring and the Inter-county Connector, Exotic Species, Stream Restoration Effectiveness Monitoring, Volunteer Monitoring, and an NPDES Primer. A conference highlight will be a plenary talk by Rudy Chow, Director of the Baltimore City Department of Public Works.
