Join the Tree Troopers—the Watershed Steward Academy’s network of community volunteers working to plant trees across Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis. No experience necessary, just an interest in learning and making a difference—one tree at a time!

Since 2020, RePlant Anne Arundel has planted over 20,000 trees and engaged over 4,300 residents! From September 2023 to December 2024, RePlant Annapolis planted 141 trees across various communities within the City. These trees will reduce stormwater runoff and improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay for years to come, which is why we here at RePlant like to say “clean water grows on trees!”

Interested in bringing low-cost trees to your community? New Tree Troopers will:

  • Complete a free, self-paced online course on tree selection, project planning, and community engagement.
  • Join a hands-on Field Session this fall.
  • Assist neighbors in choosing and planting the right trees for their outdoor spaces.
  • Help care for newly planted trees to support healthier communities and a cleaner Bay.

The online Tree Trooper training is available year-round, but we encourage new volunteers to complete the online course this summer to get ready for our Fall 2025 Field Session. Please learn more and sign up here: aawsa.org/tree-trooper.
