In 2018 Maryland launched the nation’s first state-sponsored Climate Leadership Academy.  Since then the Academy has trained over 475 participants from state and local governments, NGOs and private business in six cohorts across the state.

More recently, the Academy has developed a one-day educational program designed specifically for elected officials in Maryland.  On behalf of Secretaries Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio (DNR) and Ben Grumbles (MDE) we would like to invite these officials to join us, along with other Maryland leaders, on January 7 , 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Annapolis.

Attendees will gain foundational knowledge about climate change impacts to regional and local economies across Maryland, including implications for critical infrastructure, security, and public health. You will also gain knowledge of current state policies and tools available to help communities adapt and become more resilient. The program includes facilitated exercises that result in tangible actions you can implement in your community. Additional information about the program is available at www.MDClimateAcademy.org/elected.

Please RSVP by December 20, 2019 through the link listed above.  There is no cost for the training and food is provided. If you have questions or would like additional information about the program, please reach out to Daniel Kreeger at dkreeger@climateofficers.org.
