AmeriCorps members will serve as park interpreters at state parks across Virginia from April to Sept. 2012. As park interpreters members will be responsible for learning interpretation techniques, gaining an understanding of stewardship ethics and how to help park visitors make connections to natural and cultural resources while following the rules and regulations of AmeriCorps and Virginia State Parks. AmeriCorps members will also act as a liaison with the local community. Through the efforts of our AmeriCorps members we will reach more citizens with our conservation message and further our mission. In exchange for a season of committed service consisting of 675 hours members will receive a $3,000 living allowance, an educational award of $2,038 and valuable training and professional development in the natural resource and public service fields.
