Director of Programs & Operations – Full-Time  ·  College Park, MD  ·  $65,000 – $78,000 – the position will remain open until filled.

ecoLatinos is a Latino-led nonprofit dedicated to strengthening Latino community access to nature — through green job development, youth environmental education, and improved wellbeing in underserved communities. We deliver hands-on environmental workforce training in sustainable landscaping, green infrastructure, and urban forestry across the Washington DC / Baltimore region.

We are a growing, mission-driven organization run by Latinos, for Latinos — and this role is central to our next chapter.

The Role

We are hiring a Director of Programs & Operations to serve as our CEO’s primary organizational partner and senior operational leader. This role carries direct responsibility for the day-to-day management of ecoLatinos’ programs, grant compliance, staff, and organizational systems — enabling the CEO to focus on fundraising, board relations, and external partnerships.

If you are a bilingual, mission-driven leader with a background in environmental education, workforce development, or community-based programs, and you’re ready to help a growing Latino-serving nonprofit reach its full potential, we want to hear from you. We welcome applicants who are ready to step into their first Director-level role.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day organizational operations — supervising a team of 4–6 staff and consultants, setting priorities, and keeping programs running on time and on budget.
  • Manage multiple grant-funded environmental training programs simultaneously, ensuring all deliverables, reporting, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for grant compliance — maintaining documentation, tracking timelines, and coordinating with funders, the CEO, and program staff.
  • Build and support a high-performing team — conducting regular one-on-ones, onboarding new staff, and sustaining a collaborative, accountable culture.
  • Represent ecoLatinos with community organizations, government agencies, and environmental partners, with sensitivity to the communities we serve.
  • Lead adoption of organizational systems and tools that improve how we work — scheduling, project management, grant records, and communications.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in environmental education, workforce development, nonprofit operations, or community-based programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing grant-funded programs and meeting federal, state, and county funder requirements.
  • Experience supervising staff, leading a team, or coordinating contractors and volunteers.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish — written and spoken.
  • Deep commitment to environmental equity and the Latino communities ecoLatinos serves.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities independently.

How to Apply

ecoLatinos is an equal opportunity employer. We strongly encourage applicants from Latino communities and those with lived experience in the communities we serve to apply.
