We are currently seeking a creative and inventive summer intern for our Exhibit Shop. The internship program runs between June – August, with the time commitment of 25 hours per week for 10 weeks. The successful internship candidate will have the opportunity to assist with the development, design, and fabrication of exhibits, displays, presentations, interactive and imaginative exhibits and signage for Commission programs and facilities within Montgomery Parks. The intern will work to enhance the educational, informational, and recreational experience that Montgomery Parks offers to its visitors.

Examples of Important Duties

 

  • Reviews, executes, and documents work order requests made by Parks staff under supervision of the Senior Exhibit Shop Supervisor
  • Designs signage that adheres to organization’s guidelines using Adobe Illustrator/ Photoshop
  • Prepares and constructs exhibits and other art related projects with the Exhibit team
  • Assists the exhibit team on the installation of exhibits and art works
  • Cleans and organizes the exhibit shop and other exhibit related areas

 

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has background or experience in Art Production, Painting, and/or Graphic Design.
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and Adobe Suite.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License and qualify to drive Commission vehicles to locations within Montgomery County and/or as directed.
  • Ability to communicate in another language a plus.

 
Minimum Qualifications

  1. Students must have at least a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and at least Junior class standing.
  2. Students must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited college, university, or trade school.
  3. College/University students must submit a college transcript. An unofficial transcript is unacceptable.
  4. Must provide references from past supervisors and/or professors.
  5. Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Working Conditions:
Occasionally performs work indoors and outdoors; exposure to varied weather conditions, confined spaces, heights, dirt, noise, dust, and fumes. Positions in this class occasionally remains in a stationary position, moves about inside the office and outside, operates tools and equipment, ascends and descends ladders, positions self to complete manual work, pulls and uses fingers to perform physical work, moves equipment, tools and objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
