The St. Michaels Farmers Market is seeking a Market Manager to oversee operations of our producer-only, nonprofit farmers market as we approach our 29th season. Founded in 1998 and rooted in Talbot County, the market serves as a weekly community gathering place connecting local farmers, food producers, and the public. The Market Manager leads day-of market operations, supports vendors and volunteers, and represents the market within the community.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage Saturday market operations, including setup, breakdown, vendor coordination, and customer relations
  • Communicate weekly with vendors and ensure compliance with market guidelines
  • Coordinate volunteers and assist with scheduling
  • Complete administrative tasks, record keeping, and reports
  • Work with the Board of Directors and attend monthly meetings
  • Use market management software and standard office tools as needed

Schedule & Time Commitment

  • Part-time, year-round position
  • Saturday markets, April–November, plus early December holiday market (rain or shine)
  • Off-season planning and administrative work required
  • Early morning Saturday hours during the market season

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable with administrative work and basic software platforms
  • Personable, dependable, and community-oriented
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Two-year commitment preferred
