About You

Kathleen Litchfield, President of Petro Design/Build Group, Managing Partner of GreenVest-Petro JV and Owner of Stormwater Professionals LLC.  Considered "one of the Washington area's leading landscape and storm water experts", with over 35 years in the industry.  She holds a BS in Horticulture from the University of Maryland and many other industry-related educational certifications.  Her insightful advice on landscape design, construction, storm water management and practice has been published and quoted in numerous regional and national magazines.  She has developed and taught accredited college courses in Horticulture and Landscape Construction and continues to teach college level Landscape Design and Construction Courses. She has lectured for numerous Garden Clubs, the National Association of Remodeler’s Industry, Landscape Contractors Association, the Smithsonian Education Series, George Washington University Landscape design program, Home and Design Magazines “Live” event, Captain Salem Avery Museum luncheon series – ongoing,  and the Washington Design Center. She developed and continues to teach the CEU course ‘Landscape Design, Construction and Cost’ to members of the American Association of Interior Designers ASID, Washington and Maryland Chapters.

Her other experience and accomplishments include:

Master Watershed Steward of the Chesapeake Bay – 2011 graduateBoard Member – Elizabeth Seton HighschoolPast chair, Prince George's County Foundation of Applied Construction Technologies for Students (F.A.C.T.S.). Foundation provides students with hands-on experience in all aspects of construction trades.  Students construct a home every year.  Active participant for 30+ years.Teaches students in the Prince George’s County high schools, involved in the F.A.C.T.S. program, Landscape Design to prepare the student-built houses for sale.  Has taught in the program since 1983.Selected (1 of 12 people nation-wide) to participate in a 1 week  intensive outdoor study on climate change at the Smithsonian Institute where she work with a team of research professionals and scientist to study and assess man’s impact on the environment as it relates to eastern forest and Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay. Practices and principles incorporated into company’s design/build projects and articles.Past board member of the Landscape Contractors Association.Past chair of the Education and Programs Committee of the Landscape Contractors Association. Member:  IFDA, CCLC, MHS, AHS, PGHS, Metronet
