Faith & Earth Stewardship: Sacred Waters and Trees of Life with Interfaith Partners for the ChesapeakeRead more
Many find something of the Divine in nature.
We are living in a time of great challenge and opportunity. The earth, air and waters that sustain life are becoming increasingly degraded and call for our healing response as faith communities.
Kolya Braun–Greiner, Program Manager at the Interfaith Partners for the Chesapeake will offer a workshop and time for reflection on the faith foundations of caring for Creation and Earth stewardship with particular focus on watershed restoration.
What is the role of the human in relationship with and responsibility for Creation? How are trees and water depicted in scriptures and teachings of various faiths? How can we be sustained spiritually in these challenging times?
IPC’s motto “Forming faithful Stewards, Caring for Sacred Waters,” expresses its role to act as a bridge between faith communities and environmental organizations. IPC provides education on the roots of faith tradition that support this vital environmental ministry while also connecting congregations with those who have technical expertise and resources to equip them with practical ways to heal God’s Creation.
Jennifer Willoughby, arborist and sustainability manager, city of Frederick will be available to offer advice on planting a variety of trees and plants, as well as funding resources after the workshop.
What a wonderful way to prepare for Earth Day!
