Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks is looking for an experienced Nature Center Director for its new Robinson Nature Center scheduled to open in the spring of 2011.
The Robinson Nature Center (RNC) is a brand new (still under construction) state-of-the-art 25,000 square foot facility situated on 18 acres of land adjacent to the 1000 acre Middle Patuxent Environmental Area. This will be a unique nature education facility centrally located in the greater Baltimore – Washington metropolitan area located mid-way between Washington D.C. and Baltimore Maryland.
The Nature Center Director will report directly to the Superintendent of Natural Resources Division and will work closely with the James and Anne Robinson Foundation Board of Trustees. This person will be responsible for all aspects of the programming and operations of this exciting new facility.
The Nature Center Director will be expected to manage overall facility operations and maintenance; build and nurture a viable professional staff and volunteer force; assist staff with the development and implementation of creative and exciting programming that will generate sustainable revenues; cultivate financial and political support from individuals, businesses, foundations and other organizations within the community to provide quality environmental education within the mission and educational philosophy of the organization.
